Peter Schieck started running track on his middle school team in 1986 and hasn’t really stopped. He ran competitively in high school and college, and continues to compete in road races, duathlons and triathlons. Schieck has been coaching track at West since 2008. He led the Bulls to four Suffolk County Team Championships (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017). In 2013, the Winter and Spring teams were ranked #1 overall in NY State by milesplit.com. In his first cross country season last fall, the East-West Bulls won the overall Suffolk Championship and placed 5th in New York State. Coach Schieck has been teaching German and ENL in Smithtown since 2005.
Anastasia Bayne started running track for Smithtown in middle school back in 1995. She ran all through high school for the cross country, winter track and spring track team. In 2000, She moved to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to be on the National Judo team for 8 years. She continued to keep running as a part of her life and a way to maintain her weight. Making Olympic trials in 2004 and 2008 becoming an alternate. After retiring from competition, she became a coach for the district. She has coached 3 years of Cross Country, and over 11 seasons of Track & Field. Coach Bayne has helped transform the Girls West Track Program and has coached girls to break over a dozen school records.
