The Smithtown Booster-club Baseball Camp is a 1 week program that is geared toward developing knowledge, skills, and confidence in an enjoyable atmosphere. The camp is overseen, coordinated, and run by the current head coaches of Smithtown East and Smithtown West Varsity programs. The camp skills are taught by current and former coaches from throughout the district, who are aided by former Varsity Players. Campers will have the opportunity to get familiar and comfortable with the coaches that they will potentially be playing for in the future. Throughout the week each camper will receive hands on instruction of offensive and defensive baseball basics such as throwing, receiving, base running, sliding, outfield defense, infield defense, cutoffs, rundowns, hitting, bunting, and other age appropriate baseball necessities. Each day of camp will build on the previous days skills and allow campers to acclimate themselves to different situations that can arise in a game of baseball. Anyone interested in learning the game for the first time or fine tuning the skills they already have is welcome.
The West camp is run by current Varsity Baseball coach, Al Nucci, who has been coaching the baseball team at Smithtown West since 2006 (12 Years) as well as other current coaches in the Smithtown West program. Smithtown West has won League Championships in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2016 and has made the playoffs for 9 consecutive years and 10 out of the last 11.
Ken Klee has been the head coach at Smithtown East since 2010. In that time, East has won 5 League Championships and has reached the Suffolk County semifinals the last two years. Coach Klee has been named Varsity Coach of the year 5 times.
